LISTEN: HS2 in Manchester: Is Phase twos compensation scheme fair?

FARMERS in the region are urging the government to rethink plans to build HS2.

The news comes after transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin announced earlier this month a new-look compensation scheme, for homeowners affected by phase one of HS2, in Birmingham.

According to some of its supporters, the new high speed rail line could bring trade to Manchester. However its critics claim the compensation model is flawed.

John Keleher and Mike Slater are both farmers in Tatton, on the Cheshire/Manchester border. They are just two of the dozens of land owners in the North who look set to lose out if the current compensation scheme remains in place.
