WATCH: Stretford Public Hall in need of public support

Stretford residents are asking public to help them save Stretford Public Hall as Trafford council is selling the building.

The council has asked for expressions of interest from local groups and individuals to buy the hall.

Concerned citizens are now hoping to win the bid on 23 December and save “the vibrant beating heart of Stretford”.

Campaigners have been fighting to keep the building a public place for community use for more than a year.

If they win the bid, they are planning to turn the building into a community hub where Stretford residents can engage and enjoy various activities.

Their business plans include a café, artists’ studios, and a youth area but they are open to new suggestions and ideas by the public.

Campaigners are determined to show the council “there is a real passion behind this project”.

More than 500 people have already signed the online petition launched by Friends of Stretford Public Hall.
